Winding around, up and down the hilly suburb of Paddington, the cream Queenslander soon appeared. We left our dripping umbrellas outside and entered the warm timber cafe.
We browsed the list of Middle Eastern inspired dishes, conflicted between sweet or savoury – Cardamom and Honey Panna Cotta, Latke stack, 63 Degree Eggs and Challah French Toast.
With our orders placed, we chatted the morning away.
For Sunshine, the Latke Stack – crisp potato latkes, fillets of smoked salmon, dollops of poached eggs, pink pickled onions, dill and cream cheese.
My Shakshuka – baked eggs in a spicy tomato and olive passata with a serve of toasted challah bread. A rich sauce with salty bites of olive and soft egg scooped onto a sweet bread. The eggs, unfortunately, were a bit overcooked.
