Our feet crunched along the gravel carpark towards the garden archway. There, we passed rustic wooden tables surrounded by garden boxes filled with miniature eggplants, rosemary, olive trees and dandelions. We eventually made our way into the white paneled cottage house of Paddock Bakery.
For Red Macaron, the Breakfast Roll of freshly baked Sourdough bun, oozing crisp egg, maple-glazed bacon and rocquette.
For me, the Organic Avocado with Wholemeal and 5 Grain Sourdough – sweet avocado on a beautifully rustic, smoky and fresh sourdough bread sprinkled with sunflower and pepita seeds. The bread had a nice chewy and tender texture, with a nutty fragrance from the various seeds and nuts.
Red Macaron and I sat for a while, enjoying our surroundings in the cool winter sun, with all the time in the world. When a place takes you away from the chaos of life; when food makes you pause and soak in the flavours – you know you’ve found something special.
