Brewtown Newtown

In an unannounced alleyway off King Street, bundles of people were loitering in front of a glass window. Only this particular window bears the signature golden gnome and ascribed in aurous letters: Brewtown Newtown.

The brick walls, white tiles and boards, steel table tops and rounded lamps recreated an artistic hybrid between the vintage ’60s and steam-punk. One cappucino and mocha later…

Dad’s plate of Crisp Blue Eye Cod with Spinach, Chorizo and House-Cut Chips were a symphony of crackles, as he crunched away.

Little Brother had the impressive Beetroot Cured Ocean Trout with Avocado Smash, Persian Feta and Beetroot Relish on a Rye Sourdough Toast. So fresh and light with sweet beetroot, melting thin cuts of ocean trout, creamy avocado and crisp snowpea leaves and dill.

My pretty plate of Bircher Muesli topped with Pear and Apple Compote, Pistachios, Freeze-Dried Strawberries and a drizzle of Yoghurt. Colourful, fragrant and classic flavour combinations of apples and berries with modern and culturally inspired twists.

Embracing the modern day return of vintage classics, with a focus on the art of roasting and brewing coffee accompanied by well dressed and delicious menu, The Brew’s in town at Newtown.
