The Macarons were out on the prowl to break the fast of night. Commune Cafe was on my lips after much high praise from foodie friends (mostly from the Cafe Crawler). Passing Yoga Clubs, vintage shops and cafes, we finally found it.
We took a playing card and a table for two, and it wasn’t long before Red Macaron’s Cappucino and my Cold Drip Coffee arrived.
I salivated when Red Macaron’s plate was set. Flakes of pink smoked salmon with avocado on sourdough bread, topped with beetroot relish, a smooth poached egg and sprinkles of baby leaves, cracked pepper and olive oil.
I had the Green Corn Fritters with Avocado, Rocquette and Tomato, served with Chili Jam. Crisp and tender, sweetened by bursts of corn, the fragrance of coriander, and the sweet and spicy chili jam, the fritters were delicious.
Certainly living up to everyone’s praise, to commune with breakfast is Commune Cafe.
