Goa Indian Fusion

 On a boulevard lined by overarching trees draped with little buds of light is the lively dining precinct of Tedder Avenue in Main Beach. Only one of these restaurant signs, written in exotic font, spells Goa Indian Fusion. The food of Goa reflects its seaside geography, Portugese influence and thriving, tropical, fertile soils.


We began with a luxurious Chef’s Platter for 2 – Tandoori Chicken, Samosa, Aloo Tikki and Pakora with Raita, Mango Chutney and Tamarind Vindaloo. Each was deliciously crunchy with spicy vegetables, potatoes and meat. All complemented well with the sweet mango chutney, fresh raita and tart tamarind.


The Garlic and Green Chilli Naan breads were crisp yet a lovely soft flatbread.


Bugs Goorur-e Dariya – juicy Moreton Bay Bugs with rich tomato-based curry spiced with mustard seeds, ginger and a hint of chili, served with a colourful pilaf.


Goan Fish – Barramundi poached in a spicy and aromatic sauce with a bit more tang and kick, freshened with salad and more Aloo Tikki to add a textural crunch.


All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable and unique blend of flavours emulating the sea and spices of Goan cuisine – highly recommended.
