Don’t let the subtle appearance of West End fool your food-seeking eyeball holes. It’s a thriving ecosystem of mouthwatering delights that’s often met by swarms of people on Friday/Saturday nights and Sunday breakfast mornings.
Red Macaron and I visited The Gunshop Café for breakfast and it’s another jewel to be treasured. The roasted essence of coffee and cracklings of eggs welcome you into this warm stone and wood crafted shop. The sculptures and wide outdoor space also add to that homely feel.
To order – Red Macaron had the Toasted Bagel with Hot Smoked Salmon, Poached Eggs, Asparagus and Herbed Hollandaise. Generous crisp bagels sheltering the warm smoky tender salmon, topped with two clean poached eggs dripping with rich hollandaise sauce, all nicely presented on a wooden board.
For me, Swiss Brown Mushrooms, Salsa Verde, Roasted Peppers, Haloumi and Olive Sourdough. Upon the crunchy seasoned olive sourdough lay moist morsels of mushrooms and luscious bites of haloumi were well matched by the saucy roasted peppers and vibrantly tasty salsa verde.
Generous servings, well varied seasonal menu, friendly service and cozy atmosphere – what are you waiting for? :)
